Übersicht zu den Gambio GX Updates und Verzweigungen
Hier möchte ich eine Übersicht zeigen, wie der Gambio GX bisher entwickelt wurde, und an welchen Stellen es einen neuen minor release (Nebenversion) gab.
Damit das Ganz übersichtlich bleibt, liste ich hier nur noch die Updates ab Version 3 auf.
Berücksichtigt wird dabei immer nur die letzte ServicePack-Korrektur (3.x.x.x).

1.) Ihr seit zufrieden mit dem was ihr habt, dann braucht ihr nur ein paar Bug's und ein paar "lebenswichtige" Anpassungen durchführen.
Das heißt, ihr bleibt in dem Zweig v3.8.x.x. und aktualisiert wie in der Reihenfolge angegeben bis v3.8.0.4 weiter.
Beachtet aber, dass es hier keine Weiterentwicklungen geben wird, sondern bestenfalls Sicherheits-Patches.
2.) Ihr möchtet auch andere lästige Probleme im Shop beseitigen, dann müsst Ihr auf mindestens v3.8.3.1 updaten.
Wem das reicht, der kann in diesem Zweig bleiben. Wenn es bereits ein neues Release (v3.9.x) gibt, dann sind hier jedoch nicht mehr viele Updates zu erwarten.
3.) Wer immer auf dem neuesten Stand bleiben will, sollte dann gleich zum nächsten Zweig gehen und alle Updates mitnehmen bis zum aktuellen minor release v3.13.2.0
Ausgehend von dem o.g. alten Gambio GX 3.8.0.0 werden also insgesamt nur 8 Updates benötigt um auf den GX v3.13.2.0 zu aktualisieren (Stand 01.08.2019)
Grundsätzliches:
Updates innerhalb einer Nebenversion sollten immer zeitnah erfolgen, weil dadurch schwerwiegende Fehler behoben und dringende Anpassungen (vgl. SSLv3, usw.) vorgenommen werden.
Euer Shop hat z.B. aktuell die Version 3.8.1.2, dann kommt zwingend als nächstes v3.8.2.x, v3.8.3.x, etc. dran. Das x steht hier für die höchste Korrekturnummer.
Wer nicht so experimentierfreudig ist, darf mit einem Update auf das nächste minor release (z.B. v3.8.x auf v3.9.x) ruhig ein oder zwei Wochen warten. Es kommt manchmal vor, trotz teils langer Beta-Phasen, dass ein Update doch nicht so funktioniert wie es sollte.
Gambio zieht so ein Update dann notfalls auch mal zurück und bringt meist binnen weniger Tage ein neues Update.
Damit ihr aber nicht eines Tages vor einem riesen Haufen Arbeit steht, solltet ihr generell alle 4-8 Wochen nach Updates schauen und auch durchführen!
Dann habt ihr auch zwischen den Updates immer ein paar Wochen Zeit den Shop auf Fehler zu testen, bzw. durch den Kunden testen zu lassen.
Wer aber gerne neues ausprobieren will, sollte sich unbedingt einen Testshop anlegen. Möglichst in einem Unterverzeichnis des Produktivshops, das schafft gleiche Bedingungen (Hosting, Server-Konfig, etc.).
Immer wenn ein neues minor release ansteht, lege ich eine exakte Kopie meines aktuellen Produktiv-Shops an. Das Verzeichnis /gx_test erhält natürlich einen Verzeichnisschutz, u.a. damit Google keinen DC (Double Content) erkennt.
